This can be a minefield as there are so many skateboard trucks available these days, so what im going to do is list what I believe to be the best skateboard trucks from the budget to the expensive.
So if you are on a budget then you really cannot go wrong with a set of bullett trucks. These are from the same people that produce santa cruz, independent and creature so they know how to produce good trucks. Bullet trucks are a mid height truck with a real solid construction, splined kingpin and really decent bushings. They are available in different widths as well so your sure to find a set to suit you.
Next up is Royal skateboard trucks. Good quality trucks at a really good price. These are from the same stable as chocolate and girl skateboards so again you know their going to be good! These are also available in different widths to suit the width of your board.
Ok so im just adding these in as i forgot about these, Orion trucks, these guys have been around for 40 years and make amazing quality trucks, mid height and with forged base plates these will last ages and are a big contender with independent.
Venture skateboard trucks are also a good mid budget truck, these are great for learning new tricks with as they seem to make your board very responsive and they give you a nice stable ride.
Silver skateboard trucks are next up and this is what I am skating at the moment, have a look at my past reviews about these. Similar geometry to independent but a mid height truck. These are the start of the more expensive trucks. With a great team behind them you know these are going to be good!
Thunder skateboard trucks are renowned for their responsiveness and smooth turning, the high version is actually more of a mid height, and these give a very comfy ride on any type of terrain. You cant go wrong with a set of these if you have the money. Out of the same stable as Real skateboards and spitfire wheels.
And lastly Independent trucks. World renowned as being the best, they do last and the latest stage 11 version does not dissapoint. Available in high and low versions, my preference being the low version as the high version is quite high especially if like me you skate small wheels (50mm)
So there you are guys hope this helps you make the right choice. I have ridden all of these trucks and like every single one of them to be honest. And remember you can change the bushings to suit you on any truck, as the geometry is slightly different on different trucks you may need a softer bushing on one brand or a harder bushing on another. Thats whats great about skateboarding you can customize your setup to suit you, dont just ride something because everyone else is, try different combinations of bushings, maybe a hard on the bottom and a soft on the top, its all part of the fun of skateboarding. Look at the way Daewon song sets his trucks up!
Hope this has helped you and please leave a comment below if you have any questions.
